   Très populaire en Formule 1 sud africaine, Sam Tingle participa aux éditions 1963, 1965, 1967-1969 du Grand Prix d'Afrique du Sud  comme pilote privé (LDS Mk1 et Mk3) et Team Gunston (LDS Mk3 et Brabham BT24) et réalisa sa meilleure performance en 1969 en terminant huitième.
